FEBRUARY
2012: As time goes by it seems to go by faster than ever
before. I feel like it is taking forever to finish my
second album. But being realistic, and considering that
my first album took me three years to finish, I am doing
ok. It has only been a few months since I started. I have
moved onto the drums and they are sounding great so far.
I made a new room for my monster kit, which sounds better
than ever in there. I also just finished converting one
of my cupboards into a vocal booth. I was so excited about
it that I made a stupid
video! Got some gigs up north this month. Can't wait
to go back to Orkney.
JANUARY 2012: I cannot believe it is 2012 already and
I am wondering if this year will be as significant as
all the hype makes it out to be. I have pretty much finished
all my twelve string and bass guitar parts, throwing in
the odd bit of synth and percussion as inspiration instructs.
It looks like the album is going to just come together
all of a sudden. Still much work to do. I am also hoping
that booking confirmations start to roll in for the festival
season in Summer. Not sure when the next tour will be
scheduled as yet, but there are some new photos on the
site from the latest photo shoot with Steven
Allan. Just click on the pic below to find them! Happy
New Year :o)
NOVEMBER
2011: I have finished recording and editing all
the acoustic six-string parts and have moved on
to the twelve string parts, which I have recorded,
but not yet edited. Guest musicians are accompanying
me on various tracks. Some have already laid down
thier parts, while others are working on their contributions.
It's all just going really well so far, a little
slowly in my battle with over-perfectionism, but
very steadily!
OCTOBER 2011: Buried away in my studio and approaching
the end of October already, I have laid down the
six-string acoustic guitar parts for 12 of the 13
tracks that will feature on my second album. Not
very sociable, as the post editing on my guitar
parts is very time consuming and makes my eyes tired.
My mind wants to stay awake even when my body wants
to shut down and sleep. But the theory is, that
if I spend this time making sure the foundation
of the recoridng, the acoustic guitar, is absolutely
solid, then all the other parts can fall into place
on top of that very easily. I think it is going
to be worth all the effort and the sleepless nights.
SEPTEMBER 2011: Only a few days left until my gig
with Raymond Hackland and my two slots at Live@Troon
Festival. I'm looking forward to playing in
the Su Casa Tent on the beach on Sunday... lets
just hope the Scottish weather disappears somewhere
else for the day. For regular visitors to this site,
you will have noticed that it has completely changed
with a new colour theme, in preparation for the
next album, which I am just about to get back onto.
I'm a busy bee and I forget the right order to do
things in at times! But it's all good :)
AUGUST 2011: What an incredible time I had in
Europe. I am ecstatic about the whole tour and will
definitely be going back again as soon as is possible.
Since I got home I have been working intensively
on the tour video diary, which is now online!
Coming up very soon... I am playing at the Troon
Festival in September, and I also fully intend to
get down and dirty in my studio recording my next
album asap. More spins on the Deuce
Radio Show too!
JULY 2011: Yeeeeeeeeees!! Leaving tomorrow on tour.
Very excited. Packing and organising, making sure
I remember all sorts of little important things,
like my passport, plyers for my guitar... hope to
see you all there!! xo Taking a video camera with
me too, so will hopefully get some road footage
uploaded when I'm done :o)
JUNE 2011: My oh my, where did May go?? The "Swiss
Back and Relax" tour is coming together nicely.
As I write this entry I have 14 shows booked. There
are still some slots to fill, so I am hoping for
6 more. 20 would be a nice round number :)
Today I tested out the speaker I am taking to use
at some of the smaller gigs where I need my own
sound system. It works great. Really looking forward
to the Blue
Balls Music Festival in Luzern. I have squeezed
in a little recording, some open mics, but mostly
making sure everything is sorted for this tour...
APRIL 2011: I have been writing some new songs and
made some occassional appearances in public... I
might just be coming out of this hermitsville phase!
Big news is that I am headlining the KKL Plaza Stage
at the Blue
Balls Music Festival in Luzern Switzerland on
the 26th of July! The bill includes artists like
KT Tunstall, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Ben Harper, Beth
Ditto, Erykah Badu, Kelis, Macy Gray, and a personal
hero of mine, Jamie Lidell ...so that's pretty amazing
company to be in. And I am touring France on the
way and on the way back! Check out the gigs
page :)
MARCH 2011: Finished a few songs I have been working
on. The Oran Mor gig was a great success with about
300 attending. Oh what a night! For those of you
who are reading this early on in the month, I have
been interviewed for Chris Grant's "Highland
Uproar" radio show on Cuillin
FM and he will be spinning three of my songs
too. The show airs Saturday 5th 01-03PM, repeating
on Monday 7th 12-02PM. If you don't live in the
north of Scotland, don't despair... you can also
tune in online at the stations website!
FEBRUARY 2011: Have been a bit of a studio hermit
over the new year period, so a belated happy new
year to you all! I have an important gig coming
up this month, on the 18th in the Oran Mor in Glasgow.
Some of my lyrics have been published in a fantastic
book called "Along
The Sound".

NOVEMBER
2010: When I think about it, I have squeezed so much into
the last month. Aside from the usual gigs and producing
songs, I have also learned how to edit video. You can
see the results if you watch the Liberty
Tour Video Diary. Not entirely sure what musical adventures
I will be getting up to over the New Year period, but
some videos from my album launch at the Classic Grand
and from the video shoot at Cosmopol have been added to
my own YouTube
channel as well. Also did a really enjoyable interview
for UP
Next TV.
OCTOBER 2010: The Liberty Tour was amazing. So many stories,
gigs and radio appearances. For now I am doing my best
to rest up, but there is so much to do. Soon there will
be a great video diary up. Some gigs coming up at the
end of this month and at the beginnig of the next, so
check the gigs page if you fancy
coming along :)
SEPTEMBER 2010: Only a few days to go until the next Liberty
Tour, which kicks off at the beginning of October.
Live at Troon festival was amazing. I'm also constantly
working on tracks with other songwriters at the moment.
Some fantastic tunes in the pipelines. My first DVD is
just about finished. Coming up also, check out the following
two radio programs: I have been interviewed by Joe Ferret
for the 74th Deuce
Radio show, and will also have a song played by Jim
Gellatly on Amazing
Radio, going out on Sunday Sept 19th 3pm, Tuesday
Sept 21st 6pm and Thursday Sept 23rd at 1pm!
JUNE 2010: Had two AMAZING gigs in France. Hopefully I
shall have some new photos and video footage from the
Scene de Brassages Festival up soon. Got some gigs coming
up in Glasgow this month, so for those of you local people,
just pop onto the gigs page for
details. Time for a little bit of rest, then it's back
into the studio!
MAY 2010: Every gig and radio interview of the Liberty
Tour in April went great. Some of the radio interviews
can be heard on the Liberty
Tour myspace page. We came back with a lot of groovy
new ideas to implement for the next one, which is scheduled
for October 2010. So in the meantime I have been doing
a fair bit of gigging and recording, including a new song
called "Follow Me Home" which I have just uploaded
to my myspace
page.
FEBRUARY 2010: Hey all I have been tucked away working
on them thar recording projects, but it's about time I
got a bit of my social life back. I anticipate some party
time. Playing in Cosmopol and Art Bar in Glasgow very
soon. Things are falling into place for the next Liberty
Tour and hopefully I shall have some news about its
proposed expansion into Europe very soon. Got some gigs
lined up in France, and a big thanks
to Alex Baker for the super plug on Kerrang!
Radio.
JANUARY 2010: Happy new decade! And how interesting that
New Years Eve took place during the first blue moon in
many years. I was snowed in and couldn't go out! ...coal
fires are nice though. This year has many things in store.
The next Liberty
Tour is scheduled for April and I am going to be pushing
to get my forthcoming DVD finished asap. I shall be doing
a lot of producing and songwriting in various collaborative
projects. Also working on some of my own new material
:)
DECEMBER
2009: Got back from the Liberty Tour. Exhausted but happy.
Too many incredible stories to tell! You cn have a listen
to some of the radio interviews we did on the Liberty
Tour Myspace page. I got a new personal facebook
account because a musicians account doesn't allow me to
write on other peoples walls. A great 'behind the scenes'
video
from my forthcoming DVD has been made by Rockin
Scotland. My new song Grey Skies is also availble
to download for free. Enjoy, and have a happy new year!
NOVEMBER 2009: Getting geared up to go on tour now. Visit
the gigs page for details of when
and where we shall be appearing. There are 20 dates across
the UK. I have been interviewed by Outliered Magazine
who then wrote a cool wee feature on me :)
OCTOBER 2009: For those of you in London I am playing
at The Phoenix (Cavendish Square) on the 11th of this
month at 7pm. The video shoot at Cosmopol went spectacularly
well. Shows for the 20-date Liberty
Tour are almost fully booked up and we are about to
confirm our radio slots. 'Stuck in the City' has been
included on a soon to be released compilation of Scottish
bands and artists called "A Sort of Homecoming"
on Fourtrak
Records. The album launch party takes place at Nice
N Sleazy on the 25th.
SEPTEMBER 2009: There are quite a few things to update
you on, so I'll summarise a bit, and if you want to find
out more just follow the links :o) The
filming of my next music video is going to take place
on 09.09.09 at 9pm in Cosmopol
on Hope Street, here in Glasgow. Entry is free. Please
come along to be involved in the video. It is going to
be an incredibly fun filled night! I have made it to the
Scottish Final of Open
Mic UK on the 17th of October (my birthday no less)
at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Last but not least,
I am organising the next Liberty
Tour with Gareth
Icke and Will Kevans. Dates and venues will be updated
on the gigs page as they are confirmed.

IN NOVEMBER (14th-29th)
AUGUST 2009: Ok so I am like definitely back with a bang.
Something has changed in me since coming a foot away from
death in that skiing accident earlier this year. Now that
I have recovered enough to do a lot of things I couldn't
do for a while, like playing guitar and drums, I have
a renewed vigor for life. I'm just so happy I am alive
and still able to play guitar and I have been doing so
all over the place, with gigs in London and Glasgow, and
doing lots of open mic nights too. This change on the inside
has somehow affected things on the outside. I won't go
on about it too much, but everything seems different.
In a good way.
JULY 2009: I have started giggind again, thank god!! My
return to the stage at the Houston Inn was fantastic to
top it off. Details of upcoming gigs are on the gigs
page.
APRIL 2009: I have started getting physiotherapy on my
shoulder and movement is slowly returning to my left arm.
I made an appearance at the Red Stripe Awards in London
using a laptop with my guitar parts on it, as I am still
a long way off from being able to play the guitar again.
Here is a review of the gig: "First on was Scottish
singer songwriter, Jono. All the way from Glasgow and
with one of his wings seriously clipped following a skiing
accident, managed to pull off a mesmerizing set. Playing
a number of tracks from his first solo album Sentimental
Anarchist, Jono cooked up series of infectious voice and
melodic acoustic songs."
MARCH 2009: Well... I have broken my left shoulder in
multiple places due to a traumatic violent dislocation
in a skiing accident. The operation to re-attach bones
using titanium pins went as well as it could have done
and now there is a long healing period, with no guarantees
of full recovery. Keep your fingers crossed for me that
I will be able to play all my instruments again in a few
of months from now!
JONO INVITED TO PERFORM AT THE RED
STRIPE AWARDS IN LONDON ON THE 18TH OF APRIL
JANUARY 2009: Happy new year!! I have been tucked away
working on songs and have also been invited to perform
at the Red Stripe Awards in Hootananny Brixton in London
on Saturday the 18th of April.
JONO

RADIO SCOTLANDS FIRST EVER MUSIC BED SHOW FRI 3rd
OCT 8PM
OCTOBER 2008: The next tour is lined up for the end of
this month. The
Liberty Tour kicks off on the 26th and ends in Glasgow
on Halloween. For details visit the gigs
page. I am going to be the first special guest ever to
appear on BBC Radio Scotlands freshest show, called "The
Music Bed", starting this Friday the 3rd of October
2008 at 8PM. "The Music Bed is a brand new music
and entertainment show for Friday evenings on BBC Radio
Scotland. Presented by Amanda Millen, a fresh voice on
the Scottish scene, who will be joined every week by radio
icon Jim Gellatly, with a selection of tunes and mix of
celebrity interviews".
AUGUST 2008: The video for Stuck in the City is now available
to download for free and also
to view on YouTube.
The Liberty
Tour is planned for the end of October. Tickets
are available for my gig in King Tuts supporting Jackie
Leven on the 5th of September. I have also been on Q
Radio with TV/radio presenter and comedian Russell
Kane.

JULY 2008: July, July. OMG where do I start?? I have been
on a UK tour playing gigs and doing
loads of radio interviews. Lots of highlights and a couple
of lowlights, but if I start going into detail I will
end up with a massively long diary entry here. Suffice
to say that everything went really well on the whole.
Sold a bunch of albums and met a lot of really lovely
people along the way. I had a great time and enjoyed almost
every moment. It was much harder work than I thought and
I'm going away to Germany on Friday where I can recover
for a week or so. I'm a bit exhausted, but so much has
still to be done before I leave. I've succumbed to creating
a Facebook
page because on tour so many people were like, "Myspace?
I only have Facebook!". I've added photos
from the tour (taken with a somewhat dodgy camera,
sorry!).

and Music Live in the Birmingham NEC. I have now also
been invited to showcase at "Your Sound" in
King Tuts Wah Wah Hut at 4pm on Sunday the 7th of October.

Strings Mending Wings" is now to be known as "Sentimental
Anarchist". I have been invited to play at the Virgin
Megastores Stage on Oxford Street in London in October
and also at the "Music Live" exhibition in the
Birmingham NEC in November. This transpired due to my
home made video of Nothin
Like That. Artists appearing at Music Live 2006 included
members of Faithless, Feeder and Primal Scream.
JULY 2007: Following my appearance in the Daily Record,
I played at the legendary King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, supporting
none other than Kizzy Star (aka Tony and Eddie of Texas'
new band). I was received very well... I was encored at
the end of my set! Nice :)

NOVEMBER
2006: Back in the studio at last and pushing on intensely
with the recording of Twelve Strings Mending Wings. It's
really coming on. I am in the process of redesigning this
website with a look that will compliment the album artwork,
which is also close to completion.
SEPTEMBER 2006: As expected, further recording sessions
have seen me work towards completion of the upcoming album.
I have also been travelling around Scotland in search
of inspiration and collaboration as I am also currently
involved in various musical projects.
AUGUST 2006: The album is about half way towards completion.
This is the main project I am currently working on. Apart
from this I have been involved in jam sessions and production
projects with various groups and individuals. It's all
good!
JULY 2006: I have designed anew Jono logo and featured
on L-Cast Radio's first summer podcast. I also played
some low key gigs in Glasgow and Malta that went incredibly
well. Despite the fact that I have been disillusioned
with studio recording, I suddenly found new motivation
for it. Maybe we'll even throw a little album launch party!!
You can also expect more gigs soon.
JUNE 2006: A lot is going on in the meandmyguitar camp;
many things are coming together. The website is developing
quickly, the myspace is gathering pace, and some of my
music will soon be featured on a stateside podcast (more
info soon) as a result of this. Some acoustic gigs are
coming up; a mini tour and holiday combined is happening
for three weeks of this month. More gigs are yet to be
confirmed.
MAY 2006: Welcome to the first news bulletin of www.meandmyguitar.com;
choc full of all sorts of info and goodies. I am in the
process of booking some local gigs, as I have been locked
in the studio for a while now and have started missing
performing live, which has always been my number one love
in music.
